I had a visit with the Bosley clinic in my home city of Chicago. They seemed knowledgable and ncie, but the more I look online the more bad things I read.

If not them then who? Who are widely considered the top doctors in the midwest??

Dr. Armani is good for FUE

Hasson & Wong for strip

Those are probaly the best two clinics on the planet in their respected fields.

Are you on Meds to help stabilize your hairloss?

PLEASE do not go to Bosley. I had four strips in their Chicago office and it was disastrous. They talk a good game, but they do not and cannot deliver. They suckered me in with their flashy sales tactics and kept promising me that the NEXT procedure would be my last one. They bled my donor dry (no pun intended) with little regrowth. Then, I discover Dr. Armani by accident. really. I cannot put into words how much i wish i could go back and START with Dr. Armani. Don't make the same mistakes. PLEASE!

You went back 4 times after your procedure wasn't any good? How come?

Did they improve your hair at all??

Jtelecom, I have been around these forums and froums like this one for many years, and I have seen many many sad cases of people not doing their research and jumping into a hair transplant with a bad doctor only to regret it like you did.

I'd love to hear your story, maybe it would save someone from making the same mistakes.

I too have been around these forums since they started. I had my four strips from 1996 to 2000 when they were just about the only game in town. The problem was that they used a lot of "minigrafts"(6-8 hairs) which looked okay until I started losing the rest of my hair. As you can imagine, my scalp was rather tight after my last procedure. I then found Dr. Armani who was a no-name at the time and decided to give him a try. He told me at that time that I could not have any more strips and that his procedure would have to be the last. He did a fantastic job of incorporating all of the Bosley scars into one, neat scar (although very long). i was very happy with the results and my hairline looked great since he had broken up the pluggy look left by Bosley. Even after five strips, I still had VERY thick donor hair on the back and sides. There was a new thing called FUE that caught my attention since I could no longer have more strips. Dr. Armani did not offer them so I opted for the so-called "expert" Dr. Robert Jones, also in Toronto (Oakville, ONT). I talked to him on the phone and he said that I was an excellent candidate for FUE. I made an appointment and two weeks later went to see him. He did a little over 2000 grafts. The results looked great immediately following the surgery. I opted for 800 more three months later. Not only did I lose ALL of the 2800, I also lost all of my beautiful Armani hairline. Dr. Robert Jones is a hack. He harvested all 2000 of my grafts in the first surgery in a little over an hour and I AM SURE that he damaged most if not all of them. He said that that could not be because you could "take a follicle out, let it drop to the floor, and step on it and implant it with no negative consequences. Within a month of my second procedure with Dr. Jones, I started losing massive amounts of my once-thick donor hair - never to return. Not only did he damage the extracted grafts, but also the follicles close to the extraction sites. I paid $18,000 + expenses for him to ruin my hair. He denies that he did anything wrong. Just last June, I had 1500 FUE by Dr. Armani in an attempt to rebuild my once-beautiful hairline that Dr. Jones destroyed. The grafts all came in nicely, but could not make up for the loss from Dr. Jones. The bottom line here is that you need to do your homework and not jump into anything.

That is such a sad story. How do things look now Jtelecom?? I thought Dr. Robert Jones was considered a decent Hair transplant doctor?? He didn't help you out at all after??

There are a few good FUE clinincs. The one I suggest would be Alvi Armani because I have personally seen great and natural results myself.
If you have the chance to meet someone who had a HT do it and fudge for yourself

I thought he was decent, too, until he destroyed my hair. He did nothing to help me out. He offered to do additional grafts at a 20% reduced rate, which I declined of course.

helpmyhair:

I STRONGLY suggest that you consider FUE as opposed to strip. If I had it to do over again, there aint no way that I would do strip. Having the future option of shaving your head is golden in my eyes. Dr. Armani is the ONLY FUE option, in my opinion.

It's been three years since I had my HT and I still "GOT MY SWAGGER"

Hey,

I would definitely recommend Armani.  I don't think you should limit yourself just the midwest.  You should absolutely consider travellling for a good doctor.  I also think that Bosley is probably the worst choice you can make.  Go the American Hairloss Association and read about Bosley.  It will show you the truth.

You should definitely do all your homework and research all your options... This is your head we are talking about, hopefully you do more research on your doctor than you did on the last car you bought. You need to make sure your doctor is reputable and you definitely want to see lots and lots of photos of YOUR doctors patients and results. In the case of Bosley, you don't want to just see "Bosley" patient photos, but the photos of patients from your doctor.

Dont limit yourself to a City or Country.  Go to who after your research you think is the best.  After 2 years researching, I flew from Japan and spent a month in LA to get my procedure with Dr Armani.

Thanks JT for sharing your terrible experience.  Im sure it will help alot of future readers make a better hair transplant decision.

Jtelecom's story is one which should be understood by anyone who choses to go with a Doctor with a poor track record - I made the mistake of going with a UK doctor before I realised I had been totally conned - fortunately for me, the damage was minimal & Dr Armani performed a very successful procedure on me in 2004 & was able to work with the existing scar.

Hi Jtelecom...would it be possible for you to share any of your current pics? Are you just accepting your appearance as it is or have you figured out another solution? (ie: hair replacement systems) Your response would be greatly appreciated.
