This is my first post here on this forum. My name is Ryan and I'm a 21 year old male from Northern NJ. I started losing my hair about a year ago. I use propecia and Rogaine Foam. I have a receding hairline and small bald spot at the crown. The two meds together has done wonders for me at the crown and makes it almost impossible to see that I'm balding. The frontal balding is still there and wish to get this fixed by Mr. Armani very soon.
I'm a professional musician and tour a good part of the year. I'm a drummer, so i sweat alot and is a good "workout".
I have talked to eric at the alvi armani clinic and he said i would need a good few weeks after this procedure before i could get back to playing. For the people that have had a procedure, when did you go back to working out, and doing real physical activity? Since I tour i would be letting my whole band on hold and wanted to get somewhat of a good time frame (the longest) that I would need time off before i can return to the stage. Thanks!!

Yeah, you'll want to take roughly 2-3 weeks off from drumming. It's a bummer at first but it's well worth the downtime to have your hair fixed, trust me.

I waited a good month before I went back to physical activity and sweating.  It is tough to put your life on hold for a few weeks but the final result is well worth it...

I went back to the gym after 2 months of my procedure (FUSS) & gradually started lifting the weights etc.

I didnt do much cardio then so cant really say anything about that.

If you can wear a hat or bandana while drumming you could probably resume two weeks after the procedure I would think.

Do you have any photos you can post? Are you just getting the front done or the whole head? It probably matters how big the procedure is.

I'd go for it. Sitting out a concert or two is a small price to pay for having your hair and confidence back.

thank you everyone for the comments. My band is doing a tour in January for a Month. I was going to try and do the procedure in December when i had some time off from college. I guess this is not going to work out and I'm just going to plan it for early 2010. Mr.Armani said i need to do 2800 grafts in zone 1 and 2 to restore my hairline and I would assume eventually zones 3 and 4 down the line. Hopefully i have enough donor hair. Is there any cases of not having enough donor hair?

Musician,

I went back to exercising and being active after a month to be safe. I believe that the key in getting a good result is following Dr. Armani's post-op instructions meticulously.  I did everything that he asked, and like one of the gentlemen stated above, that month of down time is well worth getting your hair back. Hope that helps man.

If you take a leave from your band for a week or two you might be able to have the procedure. Then have awesome hair by next spring and summer!

I agree with the others, take a minimum of 14 days off before going back on stage. Definitely plan on wearing a hat or bandanna for a few weeks after you get back on stage.

speaking of restrictions on physical activity, is there any restrictions on when you can have sex after the surgery?
